Always Current Lineox Enterprise Linux 3.037 with Update 3 Available 7. Sep. 2004 Always Current Lineox Enterprise Linux 3.037 adds Update 3 compiled from source packages from ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/updates/enterprise/3AS/en/os/SRPMS (release notes are available at http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-3-Manual/release-notes/as-x86/RELEASE-NOTES-U3-x86-en.html (x86 architecture) and http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-3-Manual/release-notes/as-amd64/RELEASE-NOTES-U3-x86_64-en.html (AMD 64-bit x86_64 architecture)). In version 3.037 the installation environment was rebuilt, so it offers now better hardware support. Lineox has avoided respins because they mean different behaviour of versions and that can cause bigger negative effects than better hardware support. The x86_64 release requires either AMD Opteron or Athlon64 CPU based computer. Some new Intel Xeon and Pentium IV processors that have EM64T (Extended Memory 64 Technology) should also be able to run this version. Because of the very recent addition of x86_64 architecture support, Lineox didn't have the time to properly transfer the x86 based cluster technology to a new build environment and it took a whole four days to compile new packages for both architectures and build installation disks.
